Tippah County Highway 15 Bypass

Xcavators, Inc. is performing a major earthwork project on Tippah County Highway 15 Bypass, with Yates Construction serving as the Prime Contractor.
Xcavators began work in April 2025 and is responsible for approximately 2.9 miles of the new highway corridor, from Sta. 719+00 to Sta. 870+00. Our portion of the project is scheduled for completion in June 2027.
The overall MDOT project includes construction of the new Highway 15 alignment, intersections, drainage improvements, Rip Rap and connections to numerous existing county and state roads.

Nearly 1.9 Million Cubic Yards of Earthwork
Xcavators' portion of the project represents one of the company's largest earthmoving operations, with nearly 1.9 million cubic yards of excavation and 480,179 cy B9-6 borrow material.
Major quantities include:
35,754 CY of unclassified excavation
480,179 CY of borrow excavation
1,375,343 CY of excess excavation
2,884 CY of structure excavation
16,300 CY of Class 3, Group C granular material
Moving this volume of material requires careful coordination of excavation, loading, hauling, placement, grading and compaction across a large and active highway construction site

Drainage & Heavy Civil Construction
The project extends well beyond mass earthwork. Xcavators' scope includes approximately 5,000 linear feet of drainage pipe, along with structure excavation, end sections and associated drainage construction.
Our work also includes approximately 6,832 tons of Size 300 riprap and 6,067 square yards of geotextile, as well as silt basins, erosion-control measures and related site work.
The overall MDOT plans illustrate the complexity of the corridor, including mainline Highway 15 construction and work associated with multiple existing roads and intersections.

Built for Large-Scale Earthmoving
Projects of this size require more than equipment. They require experienced operators, dependable production, accurate grading and coordination between multiple crews working across miles of construction.
Xcavators is utilizing its heavy-equipment fleet—including excavators, articulated trucks, dozers, tractors and scrapers—to move large quantities of material efficiently while building the roadway to the required grades and specifications.
